Day trips

My mother was just here for a week-long visit and we took full advantage of the beautiful weather by showing her a few sights over the weekend. On Saturday afternoon, we drove down to Aurora so she could see James' employer, MacKenzie-Childs, which is situated on a beautiful farm overlooking Cayuga Lake. We toured the farmhouse, wandered around the grounds, and visited the store, where Mom did a little spending. Aidan was quite taken with this beach hut chair - he thinks it would be perfect for his bedroom:

On Sunday, we drove north to Sackets Harbor, a pretty village perched on the eastern shore of Lake Ontario. As you can see from this photo taken from the porch of the Visitors Center, it was another gorgeous day:

 

Our first order of business was lunch, and we chose Sackets Harbor Brewing Co. where we sat out on the deck with a great view of the harbor. James soon settled in with a glass of their brown ale:

I chose their IPA and we liked it so much that we got our growler filled with it. We have learned to take an empty growler with us as we travel around, just in case we encounter tasty beer. Our lunches were quitegood and Aidan REALLY liked the fried dill pickle appetizer:

He even let the rest of us try them. After lunch, we meandered around the village, visited a few shops and strolled through the Sackets Harbor Battlefield Historic Site.
