Just in time for warmer weather, a chunky knitted cowl!
As I have mentioned previously, my knitting mojo has been in a bit of slump and these fairly quick, easy projects are helping me get my momentum back. I received an email message from Knit Culture Studio on a Friday afternoon announcing a flash sale on selected yarns and free shipping, and I couldn't resist. I bought one skein of Plymouth Yarn Baby Alpaca Grande Hand Paint in a purple green colorway and both the feel of the yarn and the color did not disappoint. Luscious to see, luscious to touch!
I chose a free pattern from Plymouth Yarn called One Row Eyelet Cowl. I wanted a looser cowl than what the photo showed, so I cast on 66 stitches instead of 60. With size 11 needles and only one row to knit over and over, it was an easy and fairly mindless knit:
Since I bought the yarn online, I really had no idea exactly how the colorway would in person so it was a pleasant surprise to see that it goes perfectly with my new Lands End jacket:
Now I have a gorgeous, soft cowl to keep me warm next winter. Or next week - you never know.
