Prize packs

Not once but twice in recent weeks, I have been the lucky random winner of a yarn and pattern giveaway. Yay, me!

From Nicole, who is also known as Trappings and Trinkets, I won a hat pattern and the yarn to knit the hat:

Nicole is a very talented designer and the pattern is called Twisted Hipster, a fun little slouchy hat. The yarn is Knit Picks Stroll Tonal sock yarn, a superwash Merino and nylon blend. The colorway is Springtime and you know I adore bright green! We are almost out of knitted hat wearing season but I plan to knit this adorable little number in time for next fall.

Then I won my choice of a kit from the good people at KnitCrate, Andrea and Joe. They sell knitting and crochet subscriptions and kits, and have giveaways every month. I chose the Bryndis Shawl Kit because it is gorgeous and is totally different from anything I have ever knit. My package arrived lickety-split from the Hudson Valley area and was fun to open:

I tore into the small packages to find yarn and a bottle of hand lotion:

The yarn is Dyeabolical Yarns Super Ego in the KnitCrate Cafe colorway:

It is 100% superwash Merino wool and is both luscious in feel and look. My photo does not even come close to doing it justice. I think this yarn and pattern combination are incredibly beautiful and intriguing, and this project has soared to near the top of my project queue.

With two recent giveaway victories in my knitting bag, James has requested that I please start buying lottery tickets.
